Hunkydory Little Books

Love, love, love these little books.

I was so pleased as a Hunkydory DT member to be given the opportunity to work with this new Christmas 'Little Book'.  It was hard for me as its not long since my Mum passed on 4th July, this year but it did help me relax a little.

The colours are gorgeous with quite contemporary modern designs, but even if you're a true traditional, I'm sure you'll still appreciate and fall in love with this book.

Although the sheets are perfect for 6 x 6 cards, don't be frightened to upscale by using background papers and/or dies.

Also, think outside the box, or, as in this case, just make one!  Then fill it with sweets.

This little bauble has been decorated by fussy cutting two images, adding some paste inside and out and Hunkydory snow and ice glitter. Touch of red ribbon and hey presto a lovely Chritmas bauble.

The books are on a buy 3 for 2 at the moment on Create and Craft, so head on over and bag yourself a bargain but they're going fast!

Peyote

Hi folks, what are you up to today, what's on your craft table?

I have a touch of vertigo at the moment but still have to be doing something and so I thought I'd make some peyote tube beads.

Here's a photo of progress so far.  The kit came from Beads Direct but I'm planning on adapting the designs for various jewellery pieces I have in my head. I really need to write the, down or draw them out, I'll never remember the, otherwise!

I'm watching the Olympics too, of course.  How fantastic are these athletes, such courage and determination.  Well done to them all, medal or not.

Have a happy day folks.

Olympics - Swimmingly Great, Great Britain

WoW, I've been watching some of the Rio Olympics today and had to comment on the marvellous Gold Medal achieved by the young Adam Peaty and the Silver medal won by Jazz Carlin for the women's 400m Freestyle.

Adam won the 100m Breast Stroke Race beating his own World Record into the bargain too.
Well done to you both.

Go Great Britain!

Guardian Angel

Feeling very pleased.

One of our Guardian Angel's made its way to a lovely Etsy shop customer and they left us a 5 Star Review.

Some of you will know, that sadly, my mother passed away recently due to cancer.  It was a very aggressive strain and although Mum had fought cancer previously, this time the cancer was just too strong.  This Guardian Angel was bought on the day that my mother died, so I'm sure that there is an extra special Angel attached to this one.

I hope that if you are experiencing the same grief as we are that you too will find comfort.

With love and hugs xx

Back to Blogging - At last!

I'm soooo pleased, I've bought myself a laptop so that I can at last update my blog again,  after my mini iPad and old laptop failed.

I've had a lot going on just recently, I have recently left my job, but more importantly sadly lost my mother to cancer.  I will write more soon as it can help, and speaking to many recently, it surprising how it helps others too, who feel so alone through these difficult times.

So please join me again, on my crafty life journey, through ups and downs.

Hugs to you all xxx

Cotton Crochet Blanket in the Sun

Hi All

Glorious day here in Sussex today, so feeling good.  Started my day with a lovely nutribullet blast, of strawberries, blueberries, some banana and spinach - delish!

After doing all those boring daily chores, I sat in the sun for a while with my current crochet project, a lovely blanket in 100% cotton by Lily, Sugar and  Cream. The colour is an ombré of blue hues, denim type.  As it's cotton it'll be great as a picnic blanket as well as a comfy snuggle.

Here's a piccie, in the making!

Happy Sunday everyone :)

Eurovision Beading

Hi All,

Watched Eurovision last night with my daughter Kim, we beaded through to the early hours and of course in Eurovision style, we made multicoloured bracelets.

Well done Ukraine for winning.  Kim and I enjoyed the show and all the entrants, how diverse the world is.

Well here are our Eurovision inspired bracelets, just right for the summer and those halcyon days.

You can buy them on Etsy now!

Duo Bead Bangle

Hi All

I've had a busy day at work today, so have been relaxing this evening and I have been beading a new design to me.  It's called a Duo Bead Bangle and that's because it incorporates, the fashionable duo beads and the dainty seed bead.

The design is based on the peyote bead style pattern and I'm loving it. It grows fairly quickly and creates a very malleable rope style beaded coil.

I'm planning to make this in to a complete bangle with no clasp. Will have to finish it tomorrow now as it's nearly midnight and I feel my bed calling.  Can't wait to get back to it though.
Will show you the finished piece when it's done and then I will upload it to my Etsy store.

Good night everyone

Tonic - MDF - Lyon Unit

Hi All

I've had this Tonic MDF a little while and I've just got around to decorating it.

I assembled the unit together, using the Tonic glue which came in the kit.  It's held it together nice and sturdy.

I then painted the whole unit with Tonic Nuvo Acrylic paint in Ivory.  Although the colour is called Ivory, it's actually quite a rich cream, almost custard colour. I actually paint in fairly thin coats and keep building on them.  The paint is a good quality, quite thick and gives good coverage. I've only used about half a pot on the whole unit.  Only the base wasn't painted.

The edges of the papers and the backing cards were coloured gold with Pinflairs Buff-it.  It gives an excellent coverage and blends well with the Ivory paint.

I used Crafters Companion A3 Springtime double sided card. It's 300 gsm and provides an excellent decorative  addition in keeping with the design and theme of the unit, that I have chosen.

I am really pleased with the finished piece, hope you like it too.  I may yet put brass handles on it but just can't yet decide.

Thanks for dropping by - happy crafting!

Alice in Wonderland

Hi All

After an absence I'm back to blogging, never stopped crafting, just didn't blog!!!
Here's my latest creation; a quickie card for my niece who's an avid Alice in Wonderland fan.
I've used a Debbie Moore CD for the images. The toppers section provides the opportunity to decoupage and I went a step further by removing the central section of the second layer to create more depth.

I used black card for the card base, Miri card for the next layer to add a bit of pazzaz!

The harlequin black and white backing is part of the base layer with the main picture.  The second layer, the first of the decoupage is only of the picture (without the harlequin edges).  I removed the central section with a craft knife to provide more depth; the last layer is a carefully cut Alice.
The special wishes banner is slightly curved, again to add interest.

I hope you enjoy this view through the looking glass.

Hugs

HunkyDory - Boutique Chic

Well hello there!

Hunkydory did it again with another fantastic kit called Boutique Chic available from Create and Craft at a really fab price.   The kit has concept cards, bags to make which hold notelet cards, or be creative and turn them into little books.  It is such a lovely fun kit with beautiful designs and of course excellent card stock that does not crease but folds without cracking.

Here's just a few of my makes, cant wait to experiment some more.

Thanks for dropping by :)

Hunkydory - Fun in the Sun - New Launch

Hi All

Well take a lookie here!!!!!

Launched yesterday on Create and Craft, Hunkydory's the new
'Fun in the Sun' Kit is available as a bundle and includes the fantastic Decoupage kit, Little Book of Summer, Inserts and Free Adorable Scorable.  The offer is only available for this week - so don't miss out.  The colours are bright and there is beautiful gold detailing added to the designs.

I had great fun with the kit, which has decoupage suitable for all tastes and ages, including men!!!! Who are unfortunately sometimes difficult to make cards for.

The kit is essentially decoupage, but  all the layers pop out easily and you can use all the layers on one topper, or create more toppers by only putting three layers to each picture.  Because the card stock, pictures and quality is sooo good, you get perfect results; however, you choose to use them.

Don't forget to get yours!!!  Definitely a good for all seasons and good for all, card range
